The Minnesota Frost have reason to enter the PWHL playoffs with a chip on their shoulder.
The Montreal Victoire selected the Frost as their semifinal matchup on Sunday, leaving the Ottawa Charge to play the Boston Fleet, the league announced.
Montreal finished first in PWHL’s regular-season standings, earning them the opportunity to choose between playing third-place Minnesota and fourth-place Ottawa in the best-of-five semis.
The Victoire will face the two-time Walter Cup champion Frost in the playoffs for the first time in league history. Minnesota defeated Boston in the inaugural PWHL Walter Cup Finals in 2024 and bested Ottawa for a second straight championship last season.
The lower seed has won all four playoff semifinals in PWHL history. The winners of each series will advance to the championship series, which is also best-of-five.
