Jake Sanderson exited Thursday’s Game 3 against the Carolina Hurricanes and did not return for the third period.

It’s unclear what injury Sanderson sustained, but he left the ice in the second period.

First, he took a high hit from Hurricanes forward Taylor Hall, but remained in the game. Shortly thereafter, he blocked a shot with his hand, finished out the shift, but headed down the tunnel as the Senators were beginning a 5-on-3 power play.

Sanderson has two assists this series, both coming in Game 2.

In 67 regular-season games for Ottawa, the fourth-year blue-liner had a career-high 14 goals alongside 40 assists.
