Two days after Victor Wembanyama was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year, teammate Keldon Johnson earned the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award on Wednesday.
A starter for the first three years of his career, Johnson started playing more off the bench in 2023-24. He hasn’t started a game the past two years.
The move has paid off. The six-foot-five forward averaged 13.2 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 51.9 per cent from the field this season.
Tim Hardaway Jr. (Denver Nuggets) and Jaime Jaquez Jr. (Miami Heat) were the other finalists for the award.
