Estrada was optioned to triple-A Buffalo after his April 4 appearance, suggesting a standard development move within the organization. However, it has since been revealed that the injury stemmed from that same outing, ultimately moving the club to make the IL call.
The 26-year-old has appeared in just the one game this season, throwing four shutout innings with three strikeouts against the Chicago White Sox.
He pitched in two games with the Blue Jays last season, coughing up seven runs across 7.1 innings.
